Our Scotland Honeymoon

Just thought I'd show you some of the things we saw when we were on our honeymoon in Scotland.

We were there for 10 days, and it didn't rain at all for the first 7 days, which is a miracle, according to all the people we talked to. It only wound up raining for 1 day, so it was a really nice photo trip.

Here's a view of the typical Scottish
countryside:

Yep! There's sheep everywhere, of course...

We went and saw quite a few touristy things, one of them being this ginormous castle that took almost all day to look through...and they only let people check out about a third of it. This is Blair Castle:

One of our favorite places was the William Wallace monument. You'd know of him if you were a Scottish history buff or paid attention to the movie Braveheart.

Here's a view of the monument as you're driving up to it:

They even have his original sword. Sorry this picture is a tad bit larger, but the darn thing is taller than me. It's 5'6" tall. That means Wallace had to have been at least 6'4" to wield it, and one strong guy:

The monument itself has almost 250 steps up on a winding staircase, with a period stop every once in a while to check out rooms full of stuff. I made it up ok, but when we got to the top, I realized that although I don't have a fear of heights, I've got one hell of a fear of falling from them! Here's the view from the top of the monument. If you can tell at all, you can see Stirling castle in the distance to the left:

When we got to Stirling castle, we discovered that Prince Andrew was paying a visit to the castle that day as well. I happened to snap this picture of him:

We stayed at a great place in Alberfeldy, the town that makes Dewers Whisky. Directly across from where we stayed, there was this beautiful waterfall named Moness Falls. It inspired a poem or two from Robert Burns.

Here's a picture as you walk up to it, before you make the two mile hike up to the top:

And the view from the top-it's quite intimidating when you're recovering from a hangover:

We met some great people. Raul (on the left) is from Namimbia, and Scooby (in the front) is from Australia. That's Hubby & me in the middle:

On our way to Bannokburn, the site where the Scots officially won their freedom from England with Robert the Bruce, we drove across this. This bridge has been here since the Roman's built it:

Here's the plaque at the battlefield site:

As soon as I get off my butt and download my latest memory sticks, I may actually get the energy to show you something current!

Hope you enjoyed your brief tour of Scotland today.

Enjoy your weekend :D

Toodles!
